Saludos — Cómo terminar “mails” en el inglés

Justo el otro día, recibí de dos amigas — una española y la otra argentina — mails en que me preguntaron cómo puedan terminar los mails en inglés de manera neutro aún cordial.

Ni siquiera estoy seguro de que esta pregunta se trata de lenguaje. Más bien, las preguntas relacionadas con cómo componer adecuadamente los mails-e para destinatarios que todavía no conocen, pertenecen más a la esfera de la sociología de comunicaciones de la Red que a la enseñanza de lenguaje.

Cuando acababa de recibir las preguntas, me sentía como tan capacitado para contestarlas como, vaya, una pregunta acerca del mejor modo de afeitarse sin espejo. Sea lo que sea, me arremangué y prendí el equipo de grabación (Bueno, estoy saltándome el estudio, la escritura, la redacción y aun más redacción) y hice al screencast a la izquierda.

Saludos — Ending Emails in English

Just the other day, I received two emails from friends in Spain and Argentina asking me how they could close emails in a way that was neutral yet friendly.

I am not even sure this question is about language. Rather, questions relating to how to appropriately word emails to people you have not met are more in the realm of the sociology of Internet communication than of language instruction.

When I first received the questions, I felt about as qualified to answer them as, say, a question about how best to shave without a mirror. Be that as it may, I rolled up my sleeves and turned on my recording equipment (OK, I’m leaving out the research, writing, editing, and more editing) and made the screencast at the left.
